Add Sites
During onboarding, you'll add your sites (locations) to Stokkd. Learn how site setup works depending on your integration type — and why this step is skipped for API integrations like Shopify.
Quick Answer
A site is a location where you track inventory in Stokkd. How you add your sites depends on your integration type:
- API integrations (Shopify, future integrations): Sites are automatically synced from your connected system — this step is skipped during onboarding
- Manual or template-based integrations (Manual, Rex, MYOB): You manually add your site(s) with details like name, location, and short code
Why Sites Matter
Each site in Stokkd is counted independently — it has its own stock data, areas, and stocktake results. A single physical premises can have multiple sites if different areas hold stock separately (e.g., Shop Floor and Warehouse).
Each active site requires one licence slot from your subscription. When you add a site, you're using one of your purchased slots.
For Manual & Template Integrations
If you've chosen a manual or template-based integration (File Import, Rex, MYOB), you'll see an Add Site form during onboarding. Fill in:
- Site Name — Your location's name (e.g., "Sydney Store", "Warehouse")
- Short Code — A brief identifier shown on mobile screens (e.g.,
SYD-SHOP,WH1). This is automatically converted to uppercase. - Address details (optional) — Address Line 1 & 2, Suburb/City, State, and Postal Code. These print on reports if enabled, but aren't required to continue.
You can add multiple sites during this step by clicking Add Site again after saving one — you're not limited to a single site. You can also add more later from Settings > Sites.
For API Integrations (Shopify, etc.)
When you connect an API integration like Shopify, your sites are automatically pulled in from your connected system. Stokkd syncs all locations from Shopify as sites in Stokkd — you don't need to create them manually.
Once synced, certain site fields (like name and external identifier) become locked — they're controlled by Shopify and can't be freely edited inside Stokkd.
The minimum onboarding requirements are now complete. You'll be redirected to the home page.
Next Steps
For a more thorough setup, we recommend the following (in order):
- Review your sites — Go to Settings > Sites at any time to add, edit, or manage all your sites.
- Set up users — only the Owner user currently exists. If required, Go to Settings > Users to add more.
- Prepare your devices — install the PWA app on any mobile devices (eg. mobile phones, tablets, PDE devices). See related articles below.
