Overview

Stokkd v4 is the most significant update we’ve shipped. If you’ve been using Stokkd Classic, you’ll notice the difference immediately — from the moment you open the app. We’ve rebuilt the counting experience from the ground up, added capabilities that teams have been asking for, and modernised every corner of the platform to keep up with how retail and warehouse operations actually work today.

Here’s a full rundown of what’s new.

Realtime Updates — No More Refreshing

The biggest operational change in v4 is that everything updates in real-time. Zone and area status, stocktake progress, who’s counting what — it all streams live to every device on the floor.

If a team member finishes a zone, their supervisor sees it update instantly. If someone locks an area for review, it’s flagged immediately across the whole team. There’s no more refreshing pages and wondering whether the count you’re looking at is current — it always is.

This makes coordinating large stocktakes significantly faster and removes a whole category of errors caused by stale data.

Multi-Company Sign In

For teams that operate across multiple retail locations, hospitality venues, or warehouses — you can now access all your companies from a single login. No more signing in and out, no separate accounts to juggle.

Switch between companies from the account menu and pick up exactly where you left off. Owners can also manage multiple companies from a single owner account, making Stokkd much more practical for retail chains, hospitality groups, and 3PL operations.

Formalised Finalisation Process

Finishing a stocktake in v4 is now a structured, guided workflow — not just hitting a “post” button and hoping for the best.

When you’re ready to finalise, the app walks you through a step-by-step process: zones are locked to prevent late changes, the system scans for large discrepancies or potential mistakes before you commit, and you get a comprehensive summary of count results, variances, and adjustments for final review. Nothing gets posted until you’ve confirmed it’s right.

This structured approach is especially valuable in professional operations where audit trails matter and errors are expensive.

Redesigned Count Screen

The scanning interface — the screen your team spends the most time on — has been completely redesigned. The new menu structure is faster to navigate on mobile, the layout is cleaner, and the most-used actions are within immediate reach.

Whether your team is using Manual, Auto, or Percent counting modes, the new screen handles switching between them without losing your place.

PWA Mode — Install It Like an App

Stokkd v4 is a Progressive Web App (PWA). On Android and iOS, you can add it to your home screen directly from the browser — and once installed, it runs full-screen with no browser chrome in the way, and can receive push notifications like a native app.

The first time you visit the login page on mobile, you’ll be prompted to install. The whole process takes about 10 seconds and makes the app noticeably faster and more polished to use on a daily basis.

Push Notifications

With PWA mode comes push notifications. Your team can now receive Stokkd alerts directly on their devices — whether that’s a stocktake status update, an assignment, or a system alert. Notifications work on both Android and iOS when the app is installed to the home screen.

Network Status Detection

Counting on a slow or flaky warehouse WiFi connection is a fact of life. v4 now actively monitors your network health and blocks counting actions if the connection drops — preventing data from being submitted to an inconsistent state.

When connectivity is lost, a clear overlay appears on the count screen. Once the network is restored and confirmed healthy, the lock lifts automatically and counting resumes. No silent failures, no phantom scans.

Light and Dark Themes

The app now fully supports light and dark colour modes. Switch from your user profile at any time. The preference is saved to your account, so it follows you across devices.

Dark mode is particularly useful for warehouse environments and evening shifts where bright screens become tiring quickly.

User Profile Page

Your account now has a dedicated profile page where you can view your details, update your settings, change your password, and configure your scanning preferences — including which audio beep profile you want to use when scanning barcodes.

Custom beep profiles are new in v4 too: each user can set their own audio feedback style, which is handy when multiple people are scanning in the same space.

In-App Documentation

Help is now built directly into the app. Hit the help button from any page and you’ll get a panel of articles relevant to exactly where you are — no external browser tab, no hunting through a separate help centre.

The articles are pulled from the same support documentation used across Stokkd and are kept up to date as the product evolves.

Enhanced Mobile Functionality

The Count Errors review feature is now available on mobile. Previously desktop-only, this gives mobile users the ability to review and address count discrepancies directly from the scanning interface — without needing to switch to a desktop to action them.
